Inauguration Day

Eagle+5If you’ve read very many of my posts, you’ll have come to the conclusion that I’m not much of fan of what happens in the U. S. government. I don’t believe our nation’s leaders act in our interest very often and the man who is our leader is not someone I have ever agreed with on much of anything.

Be that as it may, as a Christian I have a duty to pray. Today, and often, I will pray for President Obama, our Congress, and the Supreme Court to return to the values, the Christian values, I believe we were founded upon and for which God has allowed our nation to thrive for nearly 240 years.

This requires wisdom on our part every bit as much as on those we have put in positions of authority over our nation’s affairs.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

When Solomon was appointed king to replace his father David, he was rewarded handsomely for what he asked for: Wisdom. May we be so blessed to find Godly people in place the next several years, enough to lead us to the goal above and please God.

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul;
If you have found it, there is a prospect,
And your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:14

May this be our national prayer these next four years. Amen.
