Just Another Attack

Well, here we go again.  The last time I posted anything was nearly a year ago and my wife, son and I were in the midst of selling our home and moving to an apartment as we refocused on a down-sized life and getting debt-free.

Our son, deeply involved in training to become a mechanic and working as one, also was up to his eyeballs in work and the life of an 18 year old. Sandy and I were busy being frustrated and wondering if paying a mortgage and lease at the same time was doable, along with our other obligations.

I stopped blogging so that I could focus on Biblical teaching at my wonderful place of worship, Countryside Christian Center.

Since the move, we have had many changes come into our lives. My health suffered a little but I recovered and returned to work quickly after a three week lay up last summer. The prayers of many, many righteous availed much! God is so faithful and he looks after my little family so well. Sandy and Tim have had their challenges but He in His mercy lifted both of them up and they are meeting those challenges beautifully!

Today, I find myself laid up with a nasty head cold but I am reminded of what Satan sought to do to Job in his trials and this is to the point:  The adversary always seeks to make us impatient for the will of God to be revealed in our lives and to make us not see the glorious result when His will is revealed!

Tomorrow night, as I have for most of the the past couple of years, I will be teaching in the War Room, that little corner closet where some of my friends and I do battle with the forces of spiritual darkness in this world.  Today is my preparation day and the enemy wants me down for the count, not teaching, and not glorifying God or the One He sent to us to enjoy the victory: Jesus Christ.

Here’s news for you too, friends: the devil wants you down, impatient, groaning and anything but victorious in the Name of Jesus. I’m getting better as I write this and, again, Satan loses. Why? Because My Lord God is faithful!  He keeps His Word and His promises are YES AND AMEN!

If you’re saved in the Name of Jesus, you have a partner in the Holy Spirit who fights these battles for you. If you’re not, you need one now. Take this offer seriously and come to Him. Make Him your partner.

And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only but also for those of the whole world. 1 John 2:1-2

Be patient friends, and remember Job’s wife, in her impatience with God, said to Job, “curse God and die!”   The Holy Spirit will make you healthy in body and mind and wise to be patient for God’s glory.

God in the Darkness

images I am so wonderfully blessed to have many, many wise people around me!

I must say the responsiveness of those with whom I share faith in Jesus Christ as not only my Lord and Savior, but as the One Who lights my path, makes my way straight, and keeps my heart and mind focused on the truth is what gets me through all my days.

Today was a little difficult, but it serves to amplify God’s call to me to cry out to Him for guidance, for a lively spirit to pray and call on other believers to pray on my family’s and my behalf.  My beloved wife and I are negotiating the sale of our home and I find it a little dispiriting to say the least.

The thing I am certain that God wants NOT to happen is for me to lose that focus on His power, His glory, and His direction of my affairs.  This writing is God’s way of keeping that focus.  As the Psalmist said, and I passionately believe:

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”
For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. Psalm 91:1-4

I just want to remind you, as so many have been led by the Holy Spirit to remind me, that you are never alone. The deception, the cynicism, the negativity with which the enemy tries to derail my life so often has no effect on the life of anyone who calls on Him for protection, wisdom, and guidance.

Yet he will always continue the assault and we must be on our guard constantly. Not paranoid, but wise and filled with hope and peace.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Whatever you’re facing this coming week,  keep these verses in your mind and know the true power, and peace that He will lead you in, if you let Him and don’t deceive yourself by thinking you can handle things in your own power.

Have a wonderfully blessed week, friends!

Roe v. Wade 40 Years Hence

March For Life Marks 40th Anniversary Of Roe v. WadeI don’t know why the world calls it a “celebration”. I’m referring to the 1973 Roe v. Wade U. S. Supreme Court decision which legalized the performance of abortions of children in the United States.

The celebration in the world’s parlance refers to the “choice” a woman would be allowed to make over 55 million times in the 40 years, that’s roughly a Biblical generation, since the court made that decision.

The tragedy is apparent and need not be rehashed in this post in very much detail. Suffice it to say that what it took the Pharaohs and Herod the Great to do by decree and the sword, and the Nazis to do by heinous “medical” experimentation to hundreds of thousands of others in the name of eugenics,  modern “civilized” man accomplished with a pen stroke, a needle, and a vacuum and made it sound amazingly acceptable and reasonable to millions.

China does this as a matter of policy, mainly to girls, including living, out of the womb infants and they do so without the legal hindrances of courts.

What the Supreme Court did with the best legal language it could concoct to justify such a horror, perhaps the greatest defilement of any nation’s relationship with the loving God who created them,  reminded me of a similar rebellion shortly after the creation of man:

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:1-5

The Supremes might well have been the serpent in the garden that day in 1973.  Carrying the mantle of the highest standard of juris prudence for the nation that day, they may as well have been asking the same question, “Has God indeed said?”

In so doing, they opened a floodgate of wrath on this country from which we may well never recover.

Think of it:  55 million embryos, fetuses, and infants by legal means!  We as a nation threw God’s commandment to do no murder right back at Him and then told ourselves that it was good and that we could make moral decisions as a nation without Godly guidance. Our eyes will be opened and we will be like God.

There is still room for God’s glory to be done and we can still be cleansed from this greatest of all defilements, thanks to a remnant in the world who believe in the renewal, and transformation of our minds by the power of the Holy Spirit Who dwells in the heart of every believer in the First-born of those raised from the dead: JESUS!

Inauguration Day

Eagle+5If you’ve read very many of my posts, you’ll have come to the conclusion that I’m not much of fan of what happens in the U. S. government. I don’t believe our nation’s leaders act in our interest very often and the man who is our leader is not someone I have ever agreed with on much of anything.

Be that as it may, as a Christian I have a duty to pray. Today, and often, I will pray for President Obama, our Congress, and the Supreme Court to return to the values, the Christian values, I believe we were founded upon and for which God has allowed our nation to thrive for nearly 240 years.

This requires wisdom on our part every bit as much as on those we have put in positions of authority over our nation’s affairs.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

When Solomon was appointed king to replace his father David, he was rewarded handsomely for what he asked for: Wisdom. May we be so blessed to find Godly people in place the next several years, enough to lead us to the goal above and please God.

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul;
If you have found it, there is a prospect,
And your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 24:14

May this be our national prayer these next four years. Amen.

Glory to the One to Come

images“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:14

This declaration of the angel at the Nativity of Jesus over 2,000 years ago was not just for that moment in time, but I think it was God, our Father’s command to all mankind for all time.  It was a statement of what is occurring in heaven even as I am writing this!

The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying:

“Holy, holy, holy,
Lord God Almighty,
Who was and is and is to come!”

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:

 “You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honor and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:8-11

Notice that the words peace, glory, honor, thanks, power, and holy are the only words associated with God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.

It completely ignores suffering, pain, crucifixion, piercing, breaking, bleeding, and all the tortures Jesus took upon himself so we would not have to.

Here’s the source of my greatest joy and why I choose to use the word “Glory!” every time the opportunity presents itself. Neither I, nor my beloved wife and son, nor any of my closest family and friends, especially those who know the Lord and show it, are suffering in this life.

Remember dear reader,  no panacea is promised. No absence of anguish, or peace guaranteed but what is promised is that when we draw close to Him, He draws close to us and we have an advocate who stands closer than any brother.

I have posted nothing the last two weeks mainly because I have been drawing close during a major transition in my family’s life. We have sold our house and gotten through the inspections and now are preparing to move. Life is good! Our house was essentially sold at a value far higher than anything we expected in less than four days! Hallelujah!

I gladly resign my life to His control in complete submission. Just like the elders casting there crowns at the feet of our Lord, so shall I. This is how I choose to glorify Him. He will lead me into right paths as He always has. My wife and son, too.

I encourage you to commit and Glorify Him. He will repay!
